WARA - Women Adventure Riders Australia is a facebook page created by Josephine (Jo) Wharmby 6 years ago, and now connects more than 1300 ladies across Australia as well as several other ladies groups around the world.
WARA is a place for like minded women who have the passion to ride adventure bikes in Australia to share information and experiences with other riders, and to provide encouragement and support for riders at all skill levels in an environment where all are respectful and considerate of one another.
Riders can get together and organise rides and share their experiences. WARA discuss organised events such as large group rides, Motorcycle First Aid Courses, Off Road Training and bike repair and maintenance or anything that will empower you as a rider.
Recently WARA had a member and good friend of the group Tara Lee Sanders who fought a long battle of cancer and passed away last month. Tara was a huge inspiration within the riding community and was always keen to have interstate and overseas visitors drop into her home in Wangaratta.  She would ride and promote not only her state of Victoria but Australia.
Jo explains that she is so fortunate to have called her a friend and a valuable and inspiring member of my group, Women Adventure Riders Australia (WARA).
WARA contacted AMX Superstores along with other organisations within the biking community, to create and hold a fundraiser to raise funds and awareness within the riding community which will reach approximately 50,000 riders.
Monies will be 100% donated directly the Northeast Health Wangaratta, particularly the Oncology Department where Tara was cared and treated and spoke so highly of the professionalism and dedication of the staff.  We may not be able to help Tara, but we can certainly help others fighting this terrible illness and assist with purchasing equipment for an upcoming new Oncology Department at NHW.
The fundraiser will be drawn on would have been Tara's 44th Birthday (17th May 2021).
